About

John Dupree grew up in Chattanooga, Tennessee and attended Red Bank High School where he played golf and basketball. Thereafter, he attended the College of Charleston in South Carolina earning a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with minors in American Studies and Humanities. After attending the University of Tennessee School of Law, Mr. Dupree began his legal career working for “insurance defense” firms in Knoxville. During this time, most of his work was devoted to defending claims for insurance companies, hospitals, and coal companies throughout east Tennessee. While this work provided a wealth of litigation experience and experience with how insurance companies evaluate claims, Mr. Dupree always carried cases for individual claimants. Today, a significant portion of his caseload is devoted to individual clients.

Mr. Dupree has lead counsel litigation experience in state and federal courts, including experience with mediation and arbitration. His lead counsel experience includes mass torts, products’ liability, class actions, premises liability, worker’s compensation, medical malpractice, black lung, personal injury, criminal, auto accidents, coverage opinions and a host of other different types of cases. He is a member of the Tennessee Bar Association, is a City of Knoxville Beer Board Hearing Office and lectures from time to time at legal seminars. Mr. Dupree has served on the Board of Directors for Big Brothers Big Sisters, is Scoutmaster trained through the BSA and has participated in Habitat for Humanity.

Mr. Dupree has three children and has been married to his wife Karen since 1997. He has a wide variety of interests including hunting, fishing, camping, hiking and any time spent with his family. He collects books, wood, tools and old Coleman camping equipment. He enjoys leather working, metal detecting, arrowhead hunting, carpentry work, and auto restoration. He hit .429 in an adult baseball league in his thirties. An avid reader of history, Mr. Dupree firmly believes that our Constitution – and the individual rights set forth in the Amendments – is one of the greatest documents ever drafted by man.
